Teaser Tuesday, Tumble Time

With everything being so backed up, or really me just having been sick lazy and on the ball with other projects, my poor blog got a bit left behind. It is okay though, the time that we now have to pull things together and  put them in a neat little bow is more than comforting on my troubled little soul.

With that being said, I do have a few things up my sleeves that you might be interested in hearing! Most of it has to do with my WIP, and another has to do with a small side project. (oops, probably shouldn’t be getting another one of those, should I? I can’t really help it. It must be an Author thing)

First up, You’re Next: the Descent.

With my time off of school, I nearly doubled my word count, and am officially halfway through the manuscript. While I want to do a happy dance, I am still behind! (damn) I am going to kick myself into gear to gets some more of the piece coming for you. That just means that an excerpt is coming your way, and coming very soon! It may be bloody, it may be horrific, but come on, you have to expect that from the kind of novel it is.

Second up, is a somewhat surprise that I have been keeping. It’s not much of a secret (seeing as I am awful at keeping those) but for those that don’t closely follow my Facebook page it may have been overlooked.

I am working on a short story that will be put into an Anthology! All proceeds go to charity, and I’m rather excited to see what will be coming for that. The theme has already been decided, and I am anywhere from 1/4th to 1/2 of the way done with the piece. It is dark, it is harsh, but it’s oddly beautiful. (at least, that is, to me) I will be posting updates (as well as possible excerpts) next Tuesday along with Excerpts from You’re Next: the Descent.

Last, but totally not least, I have decided on a photographer and a model for the You’re Next shoot. I’ve been chatting back and forth with a hand full of photographers, trying to see which ones would work well with the style that I am going for, as well as giving an overall great relationship not only with the model, but with me. (the following picture is not the one that will be used, but is a picture that said photographer took by my desired model.

I picked Cayllah as my model. A gorgeous girl, with the look I wanted for the main character Cora. If you wish to see more pictures of her, you should follow her on her fan page on facebook here : https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cayllah-Model/928375947182173?sk=timeline.
I also picked Warren as my photographer. Not only was he very knowledgeable about what he was doing, but also was open to helping out an Author, and a struggling college student with little to no money lingering around in her pockets. If you want to find out more about Warren, you can find his facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/artofverity?fref=ts

Teaser Tuesday, You’re Next

For those of you that have read Languish, you will remember the short varied chapter lengths. I purposefully perfected those chapters to act in the way that they did. This time, with my new manuscript which deviates from the ideas that I placed within Languish, I have written pages of prose, surprisingly not coming to the end of chapters as I normally would.

This manuscript begs for longer chapters, and when I say longer chapters, I mean chapters that have a normal length. Maybe a handful of them contain less than a thousand words, but easily each chapter within my manuscript is around 3-4k just within the chapter. So at forty pages and in the middle of chapter six, I can’t help but smile at the strides that the Descent is making. Cora is fleshing herself out to be sassy and quirky, exactly how I had envisioned her. Vincent, a character one has yet to meet, makes me laugh just thinking about some of the things he says, while keeping his role of being somewhat wise and thoughtful within his grasp.

Best way to describe him? Think Scar from the Lion King, with a bit more ego, and a lot more humor.

And as deep as we are, there are only three or four characters introduced that are important enough to stay within the confines of what You’re Next: the Descent is. My Alpha reader is already in love with the way it is spiraling out hopefully their input will further my grasp of some of the weaker characters that have yet to be introduced.

But, for those interested, I have decided who will be doing my cover art!

DRUM ROLL.
